Rev. Robert "Bob" Peterson

The son of a pastor, Rev. Bob Peterson grew up in Pennsylvania and California. He graduated from Moravian College in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, where he met his wife, Sara. Together they moved to Richmond, Virginia where he graduated from Union Theological Seminary. He has served Moravian congregations in Riverside, New Jersey, Lancaster and Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, and Greensboro and Eden, North Carolina. He previously served as Interim Pastor of Grace Moravian in 1993-94, as well as Little Church on the Lane in Charlotte, New Beginnings Moravian Church in Huntersville, and Union Cross Moravian Church in Winston-Salem. He retired from full-time ministry in 2017. He and Sara are the parents of two children and four grandchildren.

Gitte Strauss
Church Secretary

Gitte grew up in Germany and came to this country in 1982. Gitte and her husband, Dan, moved to Mount Airy in 2007 and love living in this area. Dan is retired from the U.S. Army after serving on active duty for 26 years. 

Gitte has an Associate Degree in Office Adminitration and a Bachelor Degree in Human Resources Development. She worked at John S. Clark as an HR Administrative Assistant until the business closed. Gitte came to work for Grace Moravian Church on December 7, 2015. 

Her hobbies include crocheting, gardening, and reading. She is also a member of the local Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary.

Kathy Pruett
Choir Director/ Organist

Kathy is originally from Charlotte where she grew up in the Episcopal and Presbyterian churches before going to Lenoir-Rhyne College where she received her degree in music.  Following graduation she married into a local Mt. Airy family and became organist at Grace in December 1980. Subsequently she added the choir director responsibilities in 1987. Kathy works to provide a diverse musical program that reflects the many different aspects of our Christian lives and our relationship with Christ.

 

Aside from her involvement at Grace, Kathy spends her time caring for her husband and two daughters, is a fitness enthusiast, paints, works with flowers and enjoys travel.
