Outreach Committee

This committee is the backbone of our local outreach.  They meet on the 2nd Tuesday of every month.  Some of their projects include:

•  The backpack project:  to help out underpriviledged children in the school system have the supplies they need for school.
• Shoeboxes from Grace:  This is a Christmas ministry that helps those in need at Christmas.
• Thanksgiving dinners:  teamin up with First Baptist church in a effort to make sure that everyone possible can have a hot Thanksgiving meal.
• Pop tops:  This is a collection to help with kidney Dialysis.
• Coat Project:  Similar to Give a Kid a coat.
• Yokefellow:  This is an ongoing effort to collect can foods for this food pantry.
• Crop Walk:  This is part of a worldwide program designed to raise money and awareness of global hunger issues.
• Relay for Life:  The fight against Cancer
• Recycling:  working to make this a regular event in all homes.
• Easter Seals:  Working with the local agency in an effort to get more people in our congregation involved in this program.

 

Youth in Mission

Every year in the summer, the youth take a week and go on a mission trip.  They travel to various places in the country through the organization Group Workcamps foundations.  They live in a school (eat, shower, worship) and go out into the community and repair homes.  It is a life changing experience for many of these youth and the residents they meet. 

Our group has traveled to Miami Florida, Buffalo NY, Elizabeth City NC, Austin Texas, Savannah GA, Indianapolis IN and stayed local as well.

The requirments to attend a mission trip are to attend church, Sunday School and youth group regularly.  Help with all the fundraising and then be ready to go serve.

Adult Mission trip to Mississippi

There are many adult mission trip opportunities available here at Grace.  We have sent groups to Mississippi after Hurricane Katrina, Hope Indiana after floods and more recently are planning a trip to Atlanta Georgia to help with flooding in that area.  There are also mission weeks available at our camp and conference center Laurel Ridge.
