Outreach Committee
The Outreach Committee of
Grace Moravian Church is appointed by the Board of Elders to provide
leadership for the congregation in the ministry of outreach to those in
need, both in our immediate community and beyond.
This committee engages in Christ’s work through its on-going support of
Yokefellow Food Ministry, by collecting assigned foods throughout the month.
In addition, several members of the church are volunteers of their time at
Yokefellow. During Lent, we ask the congregation to ‘give up non-perishable
food items for Lent.’ These donations are divided between Yokefellow and
Foothills Food Pantry.
In the spring we station a Salvation Army truck at the church, so that
donations of slightly used clothing and household items might be given to
help others in our community.
Over the summer we carry out the ‘pack a backpack’ campaign. Filled
backpacks and other school supplies are collected and distributed to
elementary schools in our area. This is greatly appreciated by teachers of
students who cannot provide for themselves.
‘Shoeboxes of Grace’ has been our major December project for many years.
Containers are filled with helpful items as well as special treats, then
labeled either for young boys or for young girls or for seniors. The week
before Christmas we are privileged to deliver these throughout the
community.
This committee makes decisions as to how the church’s benevolent budget
supports local ministries. In addition, we support international missions
through our gift to Mission Aviation in Central America.
These projects and others are generously supported by the congregation of
Grace Moravian. Through them we are able to share the love of Jesus to our
neighbors near and far.

Evangelism Committee
Many of the responsibilities
of the Evangelism Committee center around creating a welcoming and caring
atmosphere at Grace, for members and especially for visitors and potential
members. The committee provides front porch ‘greeters’ before worship each
Sunday, and checks the Friendship pads for names of visitors, who then
receive communication from the church. After a visitor has returned to
Grace several times, someone from the committee goes to see them with a
gift of sugar cake in hand.
Twice a year the pastor teaches an eight-week information class for
prospective members, and each week someone from the committee assists with
refreshments. Other responsibilities include revising the prayer chain each
year and supervision of the church’s website. The committee’s newest
initiative is the knitting ministry, which provides handmade shawls, lap
robes, and chemo caps for members who are in need of a special measure of
comfort and care.
The Evangelism Committee is grateful for the many people in our church
family who are involved in helping to carry out these responsibilities.
